How does Rebuilt Studio’s "build first" model actually work?
A small business owner finds out about Rebuilt Studio because we already rebuilt their website. We post the demo at <their-slug>.rebuilt.studio, send the owner a personal note, and give them 14 days to look. If they like it, they buy it, the build fee is scope-priced ($1,000–$5,000 typical), Files (self-host) or Hosted ($9.99/mo, install bundled). If they don’t, the demo comes down. There is no commitment, no quote, no discovery call.
Most web design studios reverse the order of work and money. They pitch first, quote second, build third. Rebuilt Studio inverts it: build first, then send the work to the owner, then let the owner decide. The studio absorbs the risk that some demos won’t convert; the buyer absorbs none.
The mechanics: we identify a target small business, usually based on geographic and vertical fit, and rebuild their website from scratch. The demo lives at <their-slug>.rebuilt.studio (so kelly-plumbing.rebuilt.studio for Kelly Plumbing) for 14 days. The demo is noindex’d so it doesn’t compete with the owner’s real site in search.
The owner gets a short email with the demo link, the price, and one line: "If you like it, you can buy it. If not, no need to reply." There is no follow-up sequence beyond a single check-in. If the owner says yes, the site becomes theirs, either as files (Files tier) or installed and hosted (Hosted tier). If they don’t reply, the demo expires.
Key facts
- Demo URL: every rebuild lives at <slug>.rebuilt.studio for 14 days.
- Demo is shipped with `<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">` and `Disallow: /` in robots.txt, invisible to search engines until purchase.
- Email outreach is plain-text, single-touch, with one optional follow-up. No drip sequences.
- No discovery calls, no scope documents, no proposals, the demo is the proposal.
- Demo expires automatically after 14 days; the URL stops resolving.
Common follow-ups
How do I know my data isn’t being scraped or kept?
We pull only what’s already on your public website, services, hours, photos with attribution, contact info. No scraping of customer data, no purchase of third-party lists, no cookies or trackers on the demo. If you don’t buy, we delete the demo and the rebuild artifacts after 14 days.
What if I want changes before buying?
For minor tweaks (a wrong phone number, a missing service, a different photo), reply to the outreach and we’ll adjust before the 14-day window closes. For substantive changes (new layout, new tone), it usually means the demo isn’t the right fit and you’re better off declining.
How is this not a scam?
You can verify in three ways. The demo lives at a public, inspectable URL. The studio has a public website (rebuilt.studio), a public terms of service, and a real founder. Files are delivered as inspectable source code; Hosted is billed through Stripe with full receipt and cancellation in your dashboard.
